How FSSD turns observations into context

Missing observations remain missing. FSSD does not invent values to complete a chart, brief, or signal.

Bounded truth states

Fresh, delayed, scheduled, last verified, partial, or unavailable.

Evidence before narrative

Primary documents and timestamps stay visible beside interpretation.

Reproducible arithmetic

Ratios, returns, and sensitivities use inspectable formulas.

Descriptive relationships

Co-movement is never presented as prediction or causation.

01

Freshness & last verified

Fresh means the source timestamp is within five minutes; it is not exchange-certified real time. A failed refresh retains a validated observation only with a Last verified or stale state. Official series use the publisher schedule.

02

Session returns & ranges

Session change is (latest − previous close) ÷ previous close. Chart ranges select bounded source observations. Missing high, low, volume, or timestamps are shown as not supplied.

03

Featured-stock tape

The heat tiles cover FSSD's curated featured-symbol universe, not the full US market. S&P 500 and sector ETFs are comparators, not claims of causal attribution.

04

Oil benchmarks & inventories

The spread is Brent minus WTI on the same returned basis. EIA commercial crude excludes the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Weekly and four-week changes come from official observations.

05

Metals ratios & positioning

Cross-metal ratios divide current front-month futures. CFTC net positioning is managed-money long minus short and remains a weekly, scheduled series.

06

News & filings

Publisher headlines and SEC filings are time-adjacent evidence. FSSD never treats proximity as proof that an item caused a market move.

07

Change Radar & Move Lens

Change Radar compares matching local snapshots. Move Lens measures absolute, market-relative, sector-proxy, and document coverage; it does not assign causal confidence.

08

Replay & relationships

Event Replay scrubs verified observations and finds bounded nearby evidence. Relationship charts align matching timestamps, rebase both series to 100, and require at least 20 paired returns for correlation.

09

Scenarios, theses & alerts

Scenario inputs are user-defined sensitivities, not forecasts. Saved investigations freeze visible values and source states. In-app alerts are evaluated only while FSSD is open.
